Review of the Derbee Skyscraper

With the Skyscraper, Derbee offers an affordable "2-meters" class glider. Christophe Rocourt tested it for the April 2026 issue of Modèle Magazine, describing it as a glider suited to calm conditions, recreational flying and developing skills, whether in an open field or on a slope.

He notes its quick assembly and beautiful, smooth finish, with the underside of the fuselage protected by a plastic shell.

The slightly thick wing profile with strong curvature at the mid-span makes it well-suited to exploiting thermal updrafts.

The aileron servos can be separated at the receiver, which is useful for adjusting the differential; however, a Y-cable is also provided for those with a 4-channel radio system.

The recommended battery is too heavy to balance the model properly, so the author opted for a 3S 1300 mAh LiPo battery instead.

Calm air with winds not exceeding 20 km/h is the model's ideal environment. The motor enables rapid climbs, but, as it lacks down pitch, you must either push the elevator or add a throttle-elevator mix.

"This Skyscraper from Derbee is a pleasure to fly and easy to upgrade. It’s an ideal way to learn how to hunt for thermals before progressing to pricier models. Its top-notch build quality and affordable price will appeal to those on a tight budget.
Whether you're learning, enjoying some casual flying in open fields or on a small slope, this little companion is perfect."
